ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
University of Alberta Properties Trust (UAPT) was formed by the University of Alberta (UA) to develop or re-develop lands deemed by UA as not central to its academic mission of teaching and research. UAPT is an arm’s length, independent incorporated trust with the UA as its’ sole shareholder.
Governed by a Board of Directors and managed by a staff, UAPT works with various stakeholders such as the City of Edmonton, neighborhoods impacted from the land development, Land and Urban Planners, Engineers and Architects, as well as the UA to develop the lands entrusted to it, with the profits from such activities being returned to UA to further its core mission.

THE OPPORTUNITY
EXPRESSION OF INTEREST IS NOW CLOSED
UAPT is anticipating the requirement for marketing and communications support. Accordingly, UAPT is inviting interested organizations and firms to submit an expression of interest and proposal addressing the opportunity with UAPT as outlined below:
- UAPT
- Identification of appropriate approaches for branding
- Identification of appropriate approaches for government relations
- Michener Park Development – Identification of appropriate approaches for branding and marketing
- Future land development opportunities
- Approach and strategy to develop and lead the overall vision of the development
- Approach and strategy for community engagement during the design and planning phases
- Identification of appropriate approaches for branding
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
Each expression of interest should include at a minimum:
- Brief history of the firm/organization.
- Identification of the main contacts or key personnel within the proponents firm along with an organization chart and curriculum vitae of the identified individuals. Please ensure role clarity is provided.
- Approach to the opportunity or methodology to be used to identify and address other challenges and/or opportunities that may arise.
- History of successful engagements similar to the UAPT opportunity and a list of 3 references related to those identified historical engagements.
- Outline of fee structure as it relates to this opportunity.
TIMELINE
- Proponents are asked to submit proposals electronically to partnerwithus@uapt.ca
- Maximum 10 pages, double sided.
- Submissions will be accepted until close of business, 4PM MST, December 17, 2021 – CLOSED
PROCESS
Each submission will be evaluated as follows:
STAGE 1
Each proponent submission will be reviewed to ensure it contains all the mandatory requirements. Should a submission be missing mandatory components, it will be rejected without further consideration at the UAPT sole discretion.
STAGE 2
- 10 points – Qualifications
- 20 points – Key or main contacts/personnel
- 40 points – Methodology
- 10 points – References
- 20 points – Fee Structure
The UAPT intends on identifying one proponent using the above selection process to enter into discussions and negotiations. Should UAPT not be successful in reaching a mutually satisfactory arrangement, the UAPT retains the right to engage and enter into discussions with the next highest-ranking proponent.
