Bio Details

Mike Helm brings 20 years of experience in Canada’s commercial real estate industry to his role as President and CEO of the University of Alberta Properties Trust. A proud graduate of the University of Alberta, Mike holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and has earned both the AACI and CCIM designations, demonstrating his commitment to professional excellence and strategic insight within this industry.

Before joining the UAPT, Mike led a national investment platform at Altus Group where he was responsible for performance and client strategy for many of the country’s largest institutional real estate holders. His ability to navigate complex market conditions while fostering strong, high-performing teams has been a hallmark of his leadership.

Mike is also deeply familiar with the University of Alberta’s real estate landscape. In a previous role, he oversaw all aspects of the University’s property portfolio, contributing to land and asset management strategies and supporting several key development initiatives.

With a passion for creating a lasting impact on the industry and the community, Mike is excited to lead us into our next chapter – working closely with partners, stakeholders, and the broader Edmonton community to support the University’s long-term success.
