Louise Gibson

Director
Louise graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the School of Urban Planning in 1978 and is a Registered Professional Planner (Retired) and Member of the Canadian Institute of Planners. Since graduation, Louise has worked in the public sector in various positions with the City of Edmonton and in the private sector, first with Carma Developers/Brookfield Residential as Vice President Communities for the Edmonton Region and later as President of Gibson Development Management. Through her work with Carma/Brookfield, Louise’s projects won a number of awards for Best Development and Best Innovation.
Louise has served on the Board of Habitat for Humanity and the Boards of both the Edmonton and Alberta Urban Development Institute. She served as Chair of the Edmonton Board as well as Chair of several committees. Louise has also been a member of the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce Municipal Affairs Committee, the Real Estate Committee for the Capital Region Housing Corporation, member and chair of the Gala Organizing Committee for Kids Kottage Foundation and Treasurer and Member at Large for her local Community League.
Louise is a past recipient of the Spirit of UDI Award for volunteer contributions to the development industry. In 2022, she received an Honorary Life Membership to Edmonton Urban Development Institute. She is married to Chris and they have two adult daughters.
